Care

  • Avoid getting sunburnt where the tattoo will be placed as that would require we postpone the sessions.

Day of your appointment, ensure that you:

    • eat a high carb breakfast to fuel your body through the appointment

    • hydrate and drink lots of water

    • avoid consuming alcohol the night before

    • get plenty of rest

    • bring sugary snacks to keep your blood sugar up

I recommend that if the area needs to be shaved, you let me do it at the beginning of our session so I can properly prep the skin and avoid razor burn or razor bumps that, depending on severity, may cause us to postpone the appointment.

  • For traditional healing, after our tattoo session I will wrap your new tattoo with plastic wrap. You will want to keep that on for 2-3 hours or until you get home and can give it a good wash with some unscented antibacterial soap (I recommend dial gold hand soap) and pat it dry with a disposable paper towel. You should avoid bar soap and reusable towels as they both harbor bacteria and towels can get fabric fibers in your fresh wound.

After it is completely dry, you can apply a very light amount of non scented + non medicated lotion (I recommend cetaphil brand) 2-3 times a day for 2-3 weeks or until the healing process is completely through and the skin is no longer shiny.

Your new tattoo will go through a peeling and flakey stage around day 3 so be sure to avoid scratching or picking at it.

Regardless of if we chose traditional healing or second skin, avoid direct sunlight as well as fully submerging the tattoo in a bath, pool, lake, hot tub, etc. for the entire healing period.

To Maintain a vibrant tattoo after healing is done, apply lotion daily and wear high SPF when exposed to sun.

  • If we choose to use second skin/tegaderm I will place the initial clear bandage on at the end of the session and you will want to leave it on for 24 hours. After that, you will want to take it off under warm running water by pulling the bandage away (not out) from the tattoo. Once removed, wash it with non-scented antibacterial soap and pat it completely dry with a disposable paper towel. After it is completely dry, without putting lotion or anything on it, you’ll replace the clear bandage with the second piece I will give you and that one can stay on for up to 5 days.

  • To replace the bandage, remove the opaque white wrapping on one side first, making sure not to touch the sticky side that will be against your tattoo as to not trap bacteria underneath. Place the adhesive side on section at a time and once it’s all the way stuck, remove the clear plastic side where the arrows indicate and you’re good to go!

If at any point, either of the bandages pops or peels to the tattoo, replace it immediately or do traditional healing for the rest of the healing process.

It’s not common but if excessive irritation or any hives occur, remove immediately and do traditional healing.

  • I guarantee my work for up to 6 months after the last appointments (other than finger or feet tattoos) so if you need a touch-up within that time, fill out an Inquiry form on the “Contact” page of this website and include the original appointment date, how healing went for you, as well as photos of wear needs to be touched up and I will gladly book a 30 minute - 1 hour free touch up (depending on circumstances)

I want my work and your piece to look as good as the day you got it!

Touch-ups on finger, hand, or feet tattoos and/or outside of the 6 month guarantee period can also fill out an inquiry form on the “Contact” page of this website but will not be free (Also depending on circumstances, I.e. if you’re from out of state an acception may be made)
